Final Costume and Props

Final costume ideas

We have changed our ideas on costume as the location/set was too modern for victorian clothes so we had a change of ideas and made them modern, yet, kept the dull colours to have the audiences attention on the opening scene and not the clothes the acts are wearing.

For the girl we still want to have the dull colour idea as the the genre is still thriller so any bright colours would ruin the thriller mood. The image is a perfect costume for a modern yet simple look for a young girl. Dress with leggings and boots simple modern and stylish.

Again dull, simple, modern cloth wear for the boy as well. Even if we had an older boy or girl there clothes would also need to be simple and modern. For the boy a simple shirt, a pair of jeans and some simple shoes will be good enough to have in the opening scene. Again bright colours will distract the audience and will take attention away from the genre which is thriller/comedy. Even though a bright top might add a comic style we want the story to be comic not the costume.

For the father a modern style will be applied. A shirt with a jumper, pair of jeans and some simple shoes will be an easy costume. Nothing to bright or complicated as we released finding victorian clothes would be a challenge and our location (bedroom) is very modern so the costume had to connect to the set. So by adding a modern look will fit the style but by having dull simple clothes the audience will be drawn to the story line not the clothes the actors are wearing.








Props

Teddy


We chose a teddy bear as the actors will be young children so by adding a teddy bear it will add a younger effect, Furthermore, the teddy bear will look old and battered to add a thriller effect.

Tennis Ball

We will use a tennis ball in our production to add realism as young males are stereotypically associated with ball sports such as football. A football is not normally left laying around a house although a tennis ball is. Therefore, we will use a tennis ball in our film. 








iPhone

One of the children will be using an iPhone to bring the audience back to modern day reality, as the teddy bear and dolls house create the impression of an old fashioned childhood. 














Plastic Cup

The cup will be used for one of the children to drop when the hear the sound of the door closing. We chose a cup of water for this because it creates a more dramatic tone and puts the audience on edge while watching the action unfold.







Dolls House

This will be a prop used along side the teddy bear for the young girl to play with. It adds to the little girls innocence as it shows how young she is and that even in todays society, she enjoys playing in the way children did all the way back in Victorian times. 
The dolls house also adds realism to the opening sequence as young girls are stereotypically linked to doll houses.



We believe our props add another dimension to our opening sequence as they add a huge amount of realism and display to the audience the innocence of the children and bow young and defenceless they are.
